Heirloom

WALYALUP | FREMANTLE, WA

Transformation of a Fremantle icon

The Heirloom project restores and revitalises the former Dalgety Woolstores. One of the largest renewal projects in the state, the development has transformed the state-registered landmark into 183 warehouse apartments.

The project sets new standards for heritage renewal in WA, winning awards for both conservation and adaptive reuse at the 2017 Western Australian Heritage Awards. Retaining 85% of heritage fabric throughout the structure, Heirloom makes ingenious use of the original building’s architecture and signature sawtooth roofline in its lighting and ventilation design. The awards are validation of the skill involved in the challenging restoration, which has created a thriving residential hub in historic Fremantle.
